Next Steps
Now that you’ve been approved for the Better Futures program, you should visit your partner college’s website and complete their admissions application.
- Apply for admission at your local partner college or the Rio Salado online option. (View Partner Schools)
- Complete the FAFSA Form (Free Application for Federal Aid). (Not applicable in Canada)
- This form is required for Pell Grant-eligible students and helps to unlock federal, state, and local grants and scholarships to help lower your cost of education.
- Complete the FERPA Form (Federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) at your college to release your student account and course information to the Better Futures program prior to receiving funding.
- The college will help you enroll in classes.
- PAYING FOR COLLEGE: The college will bill the company for your tuition and the company will pay the college directly for those charges. The college will not bill the company until the FAFSA has been completed. Any other charges (remaining fees, books, etc.) are paid by the student. The Better Futures Program offers tuition assistance for eligible employees or their dependents up to a fixed amount for each semester, year, and for the life of the program.
- The Better Futures Program is tax-free for team members, but may not be tax-free for dependent children. We recommend you consult your tax preparation assistant to understand the potential tax liability for dependent use of the benefit.
You are not on your own in the process! Your plant HR leadership will coordinate times for the college to come into the plant and help complete admissions applications, the FAFSA, and any other forms for the college. In addition, all college partners have FAFSA online and in person workshops and appointments through the Financial Aid office.
